ENCOUNTER YOUTH STAFF TEAM
Nigel Knowles – Chief Executive Officer
Nigel has been in this role since 2009. He passionately leads Encounter Youth as it continues to grow as a cutting edge organisation that impacts the lives of young people. Nigel is motivated to see more young people educated and empowered to make positive choices while navigating the increasing social pressures in the community. Nigel loves to spend his free time gardening with his wife Kate, road cycling and watching the latest movies.
Jess Morris – Executive Manager
Jess has been working with Encounter Youth since 2010. Her strategic planning and communication skills, coupled with her experience within Encounter Youth, makes her a great fit for this role. She feels honoured to continually be a part of the team working together to develop and influence the young people of South Australia. Jess loves to spend her weekends eating brunch with her husband Ben, playing with their adorable daughter and is a self confessed coffee snob.
Dr Andrew Scholefield – Education Manager
Andrew is our Education Manager and enjoys growing the impact that Encounter Youth Education™ has on young people, parents, teachers and local communities. Andrew has a background in research and loves applying his experience in continually developing the program. He is excited by the expansion of our program and is always looking for further opportunities for the program to support more young people and community groups across Australia. In his free time, Andrew likes visiting the beach, diving, fishing and spending time with his wife, Mel and their children.
Courtney Turner – Education Officer
Courtney is one of our Education Officers. She presents the Encounter Youth Education™ program to students across a variety of schools and year levels. Courtney comes from a music teaching background and loves being able to use her teaching and performance experience to be an effective and engaging presenter. She is passionate about making an impact in the lives of young people and is dedicated to supporting them in making positive choices that are right for them. Courtney can often be found playing board games, attempting to be a MasterChef at home or curled up with a good TV series.
Letisha Heintze – Education Officer
B.Ed (Middle/Secondary)/ B.HlthSci
Letisha is one of our Education Officers. As a Registered Teacher, Letisha enjoys being able to use her skills and knowledge from her teaching degree to develop and deliver engaging presentations. She is also involved in the development of resources to support teacher’s delivery of alcohol & other drug education in line with the curriculum. Passionate about assisting young people to make informed choices and having a positive impact on their lives, she also values taking a holistic approach to Health Education. Letisha loves playing and coaching netball, and she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies and reading a good book.
Kimberly Price – Educator
Kimberly is a Registered Teacher. She is passionate about taking a holistic approach to alcohol & other drug education and values the importance of equipping parents and teachers to have meaningful conversations with their young people. She enjoys utilising her skills as a teacher to develop our content to be effective for young people and to support the implementation of the Australian Curriculum. Kim loves playing netball and watching footy, as well kayaking and fishing.
Courtney Ardill – Business Manager
Courtney’s experience and education in finance makes her a great fit as our Business Manager. She feels passionately about Encounter Youth’s mission in the community, particularly the impact of the Encounter Youth Green Team and how all the volunteers come together as one body so willingly, to serve young people across South Australia. Outside of work hours, Courtney enjoys being active and outdoors. She loves camping, playing volleyball and netball, and being at the beach with friends and family.
Natalie Smith – Business Support Manager
Natalie is our Business Support Manager. She is passionate about using her administrative skills and business management experience to implement the vision of our team. She loves a good spreadsheet and enjoys finding ways to streamline systems. Outside of the office, Natalie is usually found with her daughter and husband, or hiding somewhere with a coffee and a good book.
Rachael Burden – Administration Officer
Rachael’s role is to support the Business Manager and our wider team with all things administration and finance. She is the first point of contact in our office and is wonderful at making everyone feel welcome. She is passionate about assisting our team and clients in supporting young people to make a positive difference in the world. Rachael will often spend her weekends indulging in delicious food and coffee with her husband Tom or spending time with family and friends.
Alecia Curran – Partnerships & Communication Manager
Alecia is responsible for managing our corporate sponsorships, partnerships and communication for Encounter Youth. She enjoys working alongside sponsors to help them form a meaningful connection with young people through our programs. Her drive to deliver on key objectives, care in formulating strategies and commitment to communication make her a real asset to our partners. If given the choice, Alecia would probably move the office to the beach as she loves the ocean and exploring the coastline. She also enjoys yoga and dining out on Thai food.
Craig Kirkby – Marketing & Website Manager
Craig has a Bachelor of Commerce degree and runs his own marketing and web design agency. He is an ordained pastor and over the past two decades, he has overseen missional projects in several countries—including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Japan and New Zealand. Now based in Melbourne with his wife and two daughters, he serves the team in the ongoing development of Encounter Youth’s website and online marketing initiatives. Craig loves the beach and all things sport. He enjoys putting words into sentences and has written several books.
Deana Brine – Programs Manager
Deana is our Programs Manager. Her role has a focus on developing our team of Project & Volunteer Managers to successfully manage and deliver all of our volunteer programs. She feels honoured to be a part of the team working together to positively impact the young people of South Australia. She loves spending her free time cooking up a storm, drinking good coffee, cheering on the Power at the footy and going for a cheeky skate.
Hannah Moore – Project & Volunteer Manager
Diploma of Event Management
Hannah is one of our Project & Volunteer Managers within the Schoolies Operation. Hannah’s role focuses on managing the Schoolies Festival™ at Victor Harbor and co-developing stakeholder relationships to ensure the school leavers celebration is managed safely. She is also responsible for the recruitment, training and empowerment of the Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers to serve inside the Festival and surrounding streets of the precinct. In her spare time, Hannah loves catching up with family and friends, watching classic British comedies, going for hikes or simply relaxing with a good book.
Corinne Hamdorf – Project & Volunteer Manager
Corinne is one of our Project & Volunteer Managers within the Schoolies Operation. Her role focuses on partnerships with accommodation providers in the Fleurieu, managing the Free MAC Schoolies Festival™ Bus Service and co-developing stakeholder relationships to ensure the school leavers celebration is managed safely. Corinne is also responsible for the recruitment, training and empowerment of the Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers to provide support on the bus service and in the Endorsed Accommodation Provider parks. In her free time, Corinne likes to catch up with friends over a good coffee, practice her Spanish and dream of the next overseas location to visit.
Ryan Scott – Project & Volunteer Manager
Ryan is our Project & Volunteer Manager for the Street Programs. He is responsible for developing and maintaining our community and corporate stakeholder relationships in this space, as well as overseeing the Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers on Hindley Street. Ryan is so encouraged by the dedication of our volunteers and the impact they are having with young people and the wider community. He is currently studying a Masters of Social Work, loves watching soccer, attempting DIY and spending time with his family.
