Schoolies Festival™ Accessibility

At Encounter Youth, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to celebrate their achievements in a safe and inclusive environment. That’s why we are committed to making the Schoolies Festival™ as accessible as possible for all attendees.

To help identify themselves as a person with additional needs or support, we are partnering with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program. This great initiative supports people living with non-visible disabilities in their community. At Schoolies Festival™, this means young people can wear a sunflower pin or lanyard to identify themselves as a person with a hidden disability.

Encounter Youth Staff and volunteers will be trained to identify these individuals and offer additional support when required.

Our mission is to ensure that every attendee can enjoy the Schoolies Festival™ to the fullest, irrespective of their individual needs. Encounter Youth is dedicated to leading the way in inclusivity and support, setting new standards for accessible and enjoyable celebrations.

Access Guide

The Schoolies Festival™ accessibility guide shows what to expect and how to prepare yourself for the event. Available in a full colour and plain text option.

Sensory Space at Schoolies Festival™ 2026

Encounter Youth is excited to host a Sensory Space at this year’s Schoolies Festival™. Supported by a grant from the Office for Autism, Government of South Australia, the space is designed to provide a safe and regulating environment, catering for school leavers with sensory sensitivities and hidden disabilities. This will ensure that everyone can participate in the celebrations comfortably and inclusively.

What to Expect in the Sensory Space?
  • A controlled environment to help attendees regulate their sensory experiences.
  • A variety of sensory tools and resources to support individual needs.
  • Complimentary snacks and water to ensure attendees are well-nourished and hydrated.
  • Dedicated volunteers trained to offer assistance and support.

Our aim is to create an inclusive space where all young people feel comfortable and supported during this significant milestone in their lives.

If you have an approved companion card, you will be able to access an additional ticket for a support worker or family member to attend the festival with you. Please contact us directly with your details and a copy of your card to arrange this complimentary ticket.

Pre-Festival Tour

To help young people familiarise themselves with the festival site and alleviate any concerns, a pre-festival tour will be offered on Friday 20 November at 3:30pm.

This tour will provide an opportunity to explore the Sunflower Sensory Space, understand its features, and meet the supportive staff and volunteers who will be on-hand throughout the event.

RSVP is essential, please contact us at schooliesfestival@encounteryouth.com.au to reserve a spot to attend this tour.
