Our Initiatives Program unlocks new volunteer opportunities in fresh and exciting projects in Adelaide, Australia and beyond.
Our goal is to provide more opportunities to serve our city and state, and to provide different opportunities that allow a wide range of volunteers to participate.
Where’s Your Next Impact?
In June this year, we were invited to help run a school social for the Year 7 and 8 students at Glenunga International High School. Nearly twenty volunteers joined the staff team to make it an incredible success.
From the lessons learned, we’re exploring ways in which we can offer similar offerings to other schools in Adelaide and the surrounds.
In July 2024, we’ll take a team of up to eight volunteers to Onomichi in Japan to serve the local community.
On Nigel and Corinne’s scouting trip in July this year, Encounter Youth enjoyed unprecedented favour from the Mayor of Onomichi and received an invitation from a prominent local school to run an English-exchange program with their students.

In 2024, we aim to work harder and smarter in support of the churches in South Australia. Not only will we continue to offer both our existing and new volunteer opportunities through our programs, but we also plan to work with partner churches in strengthening their local community engagement projects.
Many More Opportunities!
Currently, we’re exploring volunteer opportunities in a few First Nations communities and assessing invitations to provide volunteer assistance to people with disabilities on Adelaide’s public transport network.
