Bringing the Encounter Youth Green Team to the Class of 2020
While the centralised Schoolies Festival™ in Victor Harbor has been cancelled, Encounter Youth is committed to supporting the class of 2020 to celebrate their rite of passage in a safe and positive way.
Encounter Youth Chief Executive Officer, Nigel Knowles and his team have been developing new ways to bring the support of their organisation and the renowned Green Team volunteers to the school leavers choosing to celebrate across the state.
“Everything else might have changed, but Encounter Youth and our Green team volunteers will be supporting the class of 2020 like we have done for the past 21 years.
Our Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers will be present to support our Year 12s at known areas and via our Support Hotline – 1800 Green 0 (1800 473 360),” Mr. Knowles said. The Hotline will be open between 8:00 AM to 3:00 AM from Friday 20th November to Monday 23rd November (subject to demand).
“In order to provide support to Year 12s over the weekend, we encourage them to fill out our survey available via our social media platforms and website to let us know where they are celebrating.
We are already planning to send the Encounter Youth Green Team to Victor Harbor and the Yorke Peninsula, and we are keen to learn the other destinations that are popular with Year 12s this year.
We are strongly encouraging the Class of 2020 to plan ahead and know your mobile coverage, know who to call and know what to do in a time of need,” Mr. Knowles said.
Encounter Youth will be providing regular helpful resources and tips for Year 12s and their families in the lead into and over the weekend of schoolies celebrations via our social media and website.
