Need Help On Hindley?

The Answer is Green Team

Have you ever been on a night out in Adelaide and needed some support? Perhaps you lost contact with your friends on Hindley Street. Phone battery died? Felt unsafe? Maybe you need a hand looking after a friend? Or perhaps you’d do anything just to kick off the high heels and be offered a pair of thongs. Hey, maybe you just need a mint to freshen your breath.

If you’ve ever found yourself in any or all of these situations, then we are here for you!

Since 2011, the Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers have patrolled Hindley Street every Saturday between 11:30pm and 5:00am offering support, interventions, and chats. As thousands have already experienced, the Encounter Youth Green Team are approachable and available. No judgement. And nothing’s too difficult. Go ahead, flag our attention and ask for help!

So, next time you are on Hindley – stop us and say hello! Give us a high five, get some free stuff, and use us as a reminder to make safer choices around alcohol and to look after your mates and have #ALigherNight.

Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers always carry:

  • Bottled Water
  • Portable Phone Chargers
  • Bus Tickets
  • Thongs
  • Minties
  • Vomit Bags
  • Band Aids
  • First Aid Kit
  • Tissues
  • Hair Ties

We’re here to help!

We give out 54 KILOS of Minties each year.

We give out 5,300 bottles of water every year.

Green Team volunteers have met over 100,000 people along Hindley Street.

81% of young people feel that the presence of Encounter Youth Green Team volunteers made them feel safer on Hindley Street.

We work collaboratively with the Attorney General’s Department, SA Police, SA Ambulance, Consumer & Business Services and City of Adelaide.
