12 Theme Night Ideas to Make Your Schoolies Festival™
Have you heard that the Saturday theme night for Schoolies Festival™ is Flower Power!? And were you like wait…what? What even is that?? WELL! Let us help you out!
You guys voted on your favourite theme night ideas, and Flower Power won!! We’re super excited for it so have compiled the top 12 ideas we’ve heard so far. Which one will you go with?
1. Flower crowns
Not just for weddings, engagement parties or llamas! Check out this super easy tutorial to make your own flower crown. Add fresh flowers, silk flowers, glitter, gems or anything you want!
2. Glitter
There aren’t many things in this world that I enjoy more than glitter. If you’re dying to let your inner unicorn out, Flower Power is the way to go! Here’s an awesome page that shows you ways to use glitter on your body. And men, don’t feel left out! Glitter beards have been clogging up news feeds since 2015, so get on it!
3. Tie Dye
Remember being a kid and crumpling or tying up t-shirts and soaking them in various colours of fluorescent liquid? Remember getting that liquid EVERYWHERE? Get some friends together and re-live those childhood memories and make some tie-dye clothes!
4. Double Denim
Double denim is definitely back in. Layer up on your favourite denim pieces, or add a denim bag to your look! If you’re feeling adventurous, add some flower iron-ons.
5. Peace and Love
Wether it’s in the form of jewellery, prints on clothing or temporary tattoos, peace signs and love hearts are a groovy way to add some Flower Power to your outfit.
6. Accessories
Accessories is quite a broad category, which means your options are endless. But, here are some ideas to keep with the Flower Power theme: lennon glasses, bright bangles, headbands, thick hooped earrings or a bright scarf.
7. Boho
Boho chic is probably one of my favourite styles, and it’s a classic for festivals and Flower Power. Think: long, flowy and comfortable. Don’t be afraid to mix patterns or textures like floral and lace. If you need some inspo, check out insta or pinterest.
8. Flower inspired makeup
Now, this one might be a little bit more difficult to achieve, but certainly not impossible. Get creative with your makeup! Add some flower tattoo’s if you can’t be bothered painting them on by hand or use eyelash glue to glue on some flower petals!
9. Hawaiian Shirts
The louder the design, the better.
10. Funky
If you’re lucky, your parents (or other family relatives) are pack rats and at the back of one of their closets, somewhere, lies the perfect outfit straight from the 60’s. If you’re like me and have parents that are more like throw away rats, raid your local thrift store!
11. Crochet
Crochet tops, skirts, cardigans and dresses definitely give off flower power vibes. They’re also super versatile and you can layer them with other clothes. Don’t have any crochet clothes? Ring up your grandma or a crocheter in your family! You might be surprised what they’re able to make by hand!
12. Fresh Flowers
When in doubt, grab yourself some fresh flowers and decorate yourself. Girls, stick them in your hair or wrap them around a hair tie and make a fresh flower bracelet! Guys, I have 2 words for you: flower beard.
